Changing the game for student athletes.
Client: Wright State University /Services:
With an aging baseball facility and increased recruiting competition from other schools, Wright State University was having an increasingly difficult time attracting the best student athletes to their Division I baseball program.
By soliciting funds from high-dollar donors and interested community stakeholders, Wright State Athletics sought to change the game by building a new ball field – with improved amenities for players, fans, and media, while incorporating the latest, state-of-the-art synthetic turf. B63 began by understanding the potential donor market and identifying their emotional ties to the university. By demonstrating the value of their investment, the ask became less about a facility and more about the success of Wright State’s students.
Dimensional Solicitation with Sample Turf
With content challenging donors to “Change the game,” an internal team reached out to high-value donors on an individual basis and shared a dimensional solicitation. The “box” as it was affectionately called, held a sample of the proposed field turf with strategic content which highlighted a promise to attract elite talent, grow national recognition and foster academic success.
Ultimately, 100% financial backing was achieved and the new ball park installed. Within two years, the Wright State Raiders men’s baseball team won the Horizon League championship and earned their spot in the College World Series. The stadium has also become a major draw for other university and traveling teams.
